Kiko Alonso has tendinitis in knee

Philadelphia Eagles middle linebacker Kiko Alonso has tendinitis in his surgically repaired left knee, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Alonso underwent surgery on his left knee last year after an ACL injury, which forced him to miss the entire 2014 season.
Coach Chip Kelly told reporters on Saturday that Alonso's tendinitis, which has prevented him from playing this preseason, was not connected to his surgery, but Alonso himself said the two were related on Tuesday.
Alonso said that tendinitis is common after ACL surgery, and confirmed that he will play “a couple of series” against the New York Jets in Philadelphia's final preseason game Thursday.
I love Kiko's intensity, but he's going to have it rough. Two repaired knees before your 25th birthday.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Can this be a long-term problem or is this a temporary thing after the surgery? can this linger?
I wish him all the best, but the trade is looking better if he really has ongoing problems.

I know I'm by no means an NFL athlete, or have the strength and conditioning coaches, etc that they have, but I had my ACL done 4 years ago and I haven't had a pain free day since. Granted I have no meniscus either, so that probably makes a big difference.

We got the relatively healthy All-purpose yard leader from 2 years ago for a guy coming off a major injury, hmmm... did the Bills do well there or what ??

Who's going to blame Whaley for that ?

              Whaley went "rogue."

Alot of fans bought his jersey, me included, and I think it's a travesty that we didn't keep him and let him go to IR and retire as a Bill.

It only cost $40M over 5 years with $26.5M guaranteed...

The same Philly paid for a far less proven and injury-prone RB in DeMarco Murray.

No way to know right now if it will linger, but having 2 ACL injuries to the same knee isn't good and still having tendonitis over a year later isn't a good sign.

An aging RB for injured potential. I think down the line this trade will be quickly forgotten about by all parties.

Aging? Isn't McCoy like 26 or 27? Is Peterson washed up too? And Charles ?

Tendonitis in and of itself is a minor injury, that is typically resolved through rest and physical therapy (it is an overuse injury).

He's on the field vs. NYJ tonight.

McCoy's chronologic age is not the issue. The issue is how running backs fair after back-to-back 300 carry seasons. Will he be like Ladainian Tomlinson and keep churning out big seasons or will he be more like a Shaun Alexander who was finished after three such seasons.
