Urbik sucks coqs at center. Messed up the exchange there. The 1st game he blew two consecutive shotguns to EJ.

I hope Wood never gets injured.

We need to draft a center in round 3 or sooner next year.

N should have drafted Alex Mack in 2009 instead of Maybin like I wanted to.

That could have been fixed before that situation.

In 2006 when the Bills moved up for McCargo they should have taken Mangold which is who many of us thought they were trading up to take.

ParanoidAndroid

I (an many others) thought we were trading up to take Khalil Mack last year. Let's hope Watkins makes me forget about that.

Hopefully it doesn't come down to playing a third string QB but Simms just isn't very good.

I 2nd that. Made a nice blitz, nailing the RB for a loss. His 1st game as a Bill, he picks off Aaron Rogers twice. A keeper.

Whatever. I'm still not impressed.

What would be keep Marquis Gray again?

He can't block and he is not able to get open.

Let's go with with 3 TEs given the lack of depth.

Brown maybe on the bubble along with the injured Boobie.

So, are they really worried about whether McCoy can start? Brown is playing an awful lot.

Perhaps. They've only rushed 11 times so far - I assume they want to see Simms pass. Plus, with Freddie gone, I'd guess a look-see at Brown's blocking is in order.

ParanoidAndroid

Brown would be the starter if McCoy can't go. Why play him today?

Why not? He's been a spot-duty player since he arrived. I'd like to see his blocking skills behind a 2nd-3rd string line, even if they are playing against a 2nd-3rd string LB and DL Lion corps. I'd be tossing him passes, too.

I think they want to see a lot of snaps with Brown...not for the opener that may be without McCoy, but to see if Brown will fill in for the loss of Freddie and if they need to carry an extra rb for special teams duty instead of another position.

I'm thinking both Carpenter and Gay should be cut. Carpenter hasn't looked good this preseason and kickoff specialist is such a waste of a roster spot.

Scour the waiver wire and sign someone who does both.

If the Bills need their 3rd sting quarterback to play this year, I'd be cool with starting Matt Simms.

Oh no, Carpenter missed a 40 yarder.

What's up with Dan Carpenter?

Ryan cut Carpenter 2 years ago. He's not afraid to do it again. Either keep Gay for FGs or get another kicker.

I agree that Gay should get cut because he's not booting the ball out of the endzone consistently enough to warrant a roster spot over a player like Dez Lewis or Mario Butler.

Carpenter had a hamstring injury and missed almost all of training camp. He has only recently started to practice, and he's rusty.

I would not cut Carpenter. His leg is telling him it's early June, not September. If he's healthy, all his leg needs is more practice.

I think Cassel would have made many more mistakes by now if he was playing tonight.

Simms has shown enough for me to put him on the practice squad.

The Bills aren't going to need a 3rd string QB this year because their offensive line is 10 times better than last year.

WTH is wrong with Carpenter?

I think that's the lead story after this game.

That's a good problem to have.

NFL kickers are like NHL goalies. They're weird creatures of habit and repetition.

Dan Carpenter needs to find his, "groove."

He missed a 40 yard field goal tonight, but he also made a 48 yarder...which is 1 more yard than that kick I will never watch again.

Just because one team traded for one doesn't mean there isn't kickers in FA presently and there won't be even more after this weekend.

As of now Billy Cundiff, Shayne Graham, Mike Nugent and Jay Feely don't have jobs.

Well, after that dumb mistake, Cassel just made the team.

That's one of, if not the, stupidest thing I've ever seen an NFL QB do. Simms ought to get ripped a new one on the sidelines; literally threw the game away with that mistake. Ended up being at least a 10 point swing. He had plenty of opportunity while running to the sideline to throw it away. Even taking a sack, while stupid, would have been better. I hope someone gave it to him loud and clear - I would have, if I were there!
