They think Cassel's salary is guaranteed if he's on the roster this Sunday. It's next Sunday. Although the guarantee may kick in at 4PM Saturday.
A team can still cut a vested veteran next week & not guarantee his salary.

Could be a number of reasons they are waiting until the last minute for the final 3 cuts. Could be moving $ around ( Mario Williams ) in addition to watching for specific depth help.
