O'leary over Cassel? That makes little sense unless we are looking to see if any better TEs get cut.

I guess Rex went Rogue and wasn't honest saying he was keeping 3 QBs.

Or maybe this is the way you run a legitimate playoff team.

If http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cap/ is true we have over $11 million in cap space for this season.

FWIW, BUF owes MIN next year's 7th rnd pick:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/03/04/bills-acquire-matt-cassel-in-trade-with-vikings/

His cap hit (workout bonus of $100,000 plus (unearned) roster bonus of $500,000) is $600,000.

The 5th was a positional swap in this April's draft. the 7th is due in 2016's draft.

I'll remember Cassels career here as one that began with him arriving here that day, and ended with him leaving on a different one. He never once lost a game here, his record standing on its own merit forever. He wore the uniform with class, never getting arrested. Through his time with us, he stood tall at 6'4" and threw some balls, made some handoffs, took some showers, ate some food, probably watched some TV.

His history here is past now. I wish him the best.

Let's go TT! All aboard. Most of these cuts are to free up cash for Dareus and the goal is to sign him before the opener which would be great. Really confident in the bills football operations right now and hope EJ can be a quality backup.

lol...What a ****ed-up roster at this point, I certainly hope they plan on making more moves before Sunday because this off season just keeps getting worse.

2 QBs, 7 Oline, 2 DEs, 5 CBs but 5 TEs, 7 WRs and 5 DTs.

Sure doesn't look like ground-and-pound, top defense in the league type numbers to me.

Manny Lawson, Mario Williams, and Jerry Hughes can play defensive end and linebacker. Their versatility gives the Bills a lot of options.

The Bills will have to cut 1 more player after Dareus returns.

7 WRs? That seems like 1 too many for an offense that is run heavy, uses a fullback, features the TE and rarely uses 3 wide receiver sets.

Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, Percy Harvin, Marcus Easley, Marquise Goodwin, Chris Hogan, and Marcus Thigpen.

One of them will go, and I think it's Percy Harvin mainly do to his $4 million cap hit and inability to play special teams.

The Bills are reportedly trying to sign Marcell Dareus to a new contract before next week. They are currently $11 under the cap.

Cutting Harvin would put the Bills $15 million under the cap, which is where the Bills need to be in order to extend Dareus.

3/13/2015: Signed a one-year, $6 million contract. The deal included a $3 million signing bonus. 2015: $2.9 million (+ $100,000 workout bonus), 2016: Free Agent

Only $2.9 million? For a slot wide receiver that gets injured more than he makes big plays?

Every million counts.

Is Harvin worth $3 million in this offense? He hasn't shown it.

Harvin's base salary is guaranteed. His $3M SB, $2.9M base would count, along with the $100K workout bonus he already earned. Thus, cutting him would save nothing against the cap, while leaving $2M in deal money next year.

Bills could also be freeing up cap money to put in the new stadium fund

Beginning in 6th lease year, up to one half of the capital improvement fund can be used to conduct studies related to a new stadium location, design and development. Approximately $2,216,000 will be available in 2018, with a total of $11,796,000 at the end of the lease term.

Texans need a QB with the injury to Tom Savage, and some have speculated Cassel would end up there. It makes some sense, given his past history with O'Brien's offense in NE. They already have 2 of Brady's old backups.

Props to Doug Whaley for having the balls to cut a guy he traded for.

He swapped a 5th for a 6th this year, and gave up a 7th round draft pick in 2016 to sign Cassel.
