Chiefs passing their first chemistry tests early in training camp

RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Linebackers coach Joe Vitt stood in front of 91 sweaty Kansas City Chiefs late Monday morning, holding a fistful of pencils.

Vitt selected two of the team's smaller players, wide receiver Dante Hall and cornerback Darrius Johnson, handed each a single pencil and asked them to try to break them. Hall and Johnson snapped the pencils with no resistance.

Vitt then selected defensive tackle John Browning and defensive end Eric Hicks and handed each 53 pencils held together by a rubber band.

Browning and Hicks grunted and strained, but the pencils did not break.
