The Broncos' biggest reason for optimism heading into training camp? Ask the players, and they'll tell you Jake Plummer's mobility makes them a different team than they were with Brian Griese at the controls. "Those guys (pass rushers) get paid just as much as we do," Broncos right tackle Matt Lepsis said. "When you go against them 75 to 80 times a game, you're going to get beat. It's nice, when you do get beat that one time, for the quarterback to be able to move around and create something out of it. That's going to be the biggest difference. Brian did a lot of great things, but he wasn't a guy who was going to run. If you're not mobile in this league, you're going to have problems." ...

By the numbers: Griese was sacked 116 times in 52 games since the start of the 1999 season. Plummer was sacked 114 times in 58 games in the same span. And keep in mind, Griese usually was playing with the lead. Plummer was with a terrible team, forcing him into passing situations relatively early in games. ...
