Buffalo Bills (http://www.nfl.com/teams/buffalobills/profile?team=BUF) quarterback Tyrod Taylor (http://www.nfl.com/player/tyrodtaylor/2495240/profile) is compelling for more than just the obvious reasons.

Anybody can see the skill set he possesses and the way he's ignited a Buffalo team after being a relatively obscure backup in Baltimore. The more fascinating aspect of Taylor's ascent has more to do with what he might mean for the quarterback position moving forward. If he continues to succeed as he has so far, he could set the template for developing multidimensional quarterbacks in the very near future.

Taylor easily has been one of the most pleasant early surprises of the regular season. He's led the Bills (http://www.nfl.com/teams/buffalobills/profile?team=BUF) to a 2-1 start and his passer rating (116.1) currently ranks fifth in the NFL. He's completed 74.4 percent of his passes and leads an offense that is averaging 33.3 points per game (third-best in the NFL (http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tabSeq=2&season=2015&seasonType=REG&offensiveStatisticCategory=GAME_STATS&role=TM&d-447263-n=1&d-447263-o=2&d-447263-p=1&conference=ALL&d-447263-s=TOTAL_POINTS_GAME_AVG)). Basically, Taylor has been everything the Bills (http://www.nfl.com/teams/buffalobills/profile?team=BUF) hoped he would be when they signed him as an unrestricted free agent in March.

He's the epitome of a diamond in the rough.

I think we've always known that QB's are better when they sit and have a chance to learn behind a good QB. I don't think it will change all that much, because organizations and fan bases are still too impatient to wait out the development of someone unless they have a good QB starting now (See Brady, Rodgers etc.).

I highly doubt that this causes a revolution or a marked change across the NFL, considering its something that was already known

Templates don't exist with humans. Yes a raw rookie needs to sit. And if he sits behind a capable player, he'll be closer to getting it than one who doesn't

But each player needs to be able to soak in the info and everyone learns at a different pace. You could definitely go get Drew Bree's backup but you aren't guaranteed success. It requires more analysis and understanding of the guy you are taking.

tt does not come off as a slacker whereas mallet did. Mallet was under what the media refers to as the best qb in the game. And yet mallet seems to be in a new system with no tools to manage the difficulties he is encountering. .

I think you really have to deep dive into the tt story to find all the nuggets of why this has worked through week 3 and what about him makes it possible for it to last

Nice interview with TT on NFLN this AM. I like his attitude, and desire. Just like his play on the field...calm, not cocky, but confident and effective. Like the art on the inside of his biceps, too...Born to Lose (on the right), Built to Win (on the left).
