    NHL finally grows balls...comes down hard on former Sabres and Sharks player Torres

    The NHL suspended San Jose Sharks forward Raffi Torres for 41 games on Monday for an illegal check to the head and interference in a pre-season game.

    Torres was suspended for his hit on Ducks forward Jakob Silfverberg in the first period of a game on Saturday.

    Torres, 33, had been suspended four times previously in his NHL career.

    NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman finally grew balls to suspend an NHL player more than three games, this is a start...NOW the big is will the NHL keep it up and keep banning or suspending players LONG TERM that head hunt or will they go back to just slapping players on the wrist and giving 1-5 game suspensions (unless your the Sabres) like they have done in past

    In Torres' case, he'd had-as you stated-4 similar meetings with the league regarding his play in the past. So that's a factor in why the NHL dropped the hammer down on Torres.

      I'd advise Kaleta to watch himself...even in Rochester.

      Btw...that was a brutal hit by Torres. There's no need for that. What prompted such a malicious action?

        Kaleta crosses the line but he's never gone for a blatant head shot like that.
