Last week, it was widely reported that September was the first calendar month with no active NFL players arrested since July 2009.

Scratch that.
Titans rookie receiver Dorial Green-Beckham was arrested during a traffic stop Wednesday, in Van Buren, Mo., because of an unpaid speeding ticket, according to Chief Nick J. McBroom of the Van Buren Police Department.


Green-Beckham was pulled over Wednesday night on Highway 60 in Missouri for driving 65 mph in a 55 mph zone. The officer ran the receiver’s license and discovered an outstanding warrant for speeding in Osage Beach, Mo.

I'd bet a shiny new dime the cop ran the plate first, found the outstanding ticket, which determined 10 miles over the speed limit was close enough.

Either that or it's racism, take your pick.

Depends on the situation. If he didn't pay the ticket and failed to show up for court he'd have a bench warrant out for him. Either way its pretty benign.

theyll arrest anybody for that. you have to ignore that stuff a long time for them to come after you like that. most courts bend over backwards to give you chances to take care of it. he was a total dumbass, plain and simple

and like yr said, its highly likely the cop followed him for a bit and ran his plates while doing it. they do that to me all the time bc i usually travel twelve to fourteen mpg above the limit. they almost never pull you over for that bc its within their tolerance but theyll settle in behind you and check your plates for other stuff. then unless you do something dumb they just move on

but yeah it was probably racism

Why can't the officer simply offer Green-Beckham the chance to pay for his unpaid speeding ticket?

Pizza delivery people have mobile credit card processing machines, why can't cops?

Green-Beckham could have simply forgotten about the speeding ticket.

Arresting an American citizen for an unpaid speeding ticket makes most of the good cops look stupid.

Arresting an American citizen for an unpaid speeding ticket makes most of the good cops look stupid.

I got a ticket in Ohio when I was 17 and because I was Canadian, I had to pay on the spot or go to jail and sign a bond to be released. Anyways, that state trooper took Amex, I signed the ticket at the side of the road, paid the fine and made the State of Ohio $500 richer. That was 20 years ago.
