THE DAY IN CAMP
• Offensive highlights: LaShaun Ward, an undrafted rookie free-agent wide receiver, made the play of camp when he made a one-handed catch over rookie corner Julian Battle in the morning practice.... Tony Gonzalez overcame a blatant hold by Mike Maslowski and went up and made a nice catch in the morning.... Dante Hall flashed his quickness when he caught a pass and used a spin move to shed two tacklers.
• Defensive highlights: Linebacker Monty Beisel laid a crunching hit on rookie running back Larry Johnson in the afternoon.... Linebacker Shawn Barber came up with yet another interception -- this time after linebacker Dustin Cohen tipped a pass by Trent Green into the air.... Safety Shaunard Harts stretched out and made an interception in an afternoon 11-on-11 blitz drill.
• Not in camp: Defensive end Gary Stills was given permission to leave River Falls after the death of his grandmother. He is expected back in camp later in the week. MORE...
