What's with all the 1 pm Saturday starts?

I was looking at the schedule to see if maybe I can make it up for a game toward the end of the season and I noticed that a lot of the Saturday home games are 1 pm starts.

What's that about? Were fans too drunk when they had until 7 pm to get loaded before the game?

I don't think I like it. Really breaks up the day.

I think it was to give families a chance to go. Make it middle of the day and keep Saturday nights free and open.

What's the difference between a 1pm NFL game or Noon College game and a 1pm hockey game?

1 pm games on Sunday do break up the day. I've just gotten kinda used to it.

ND usually starts at 3:30 which is an extra 2.5 hrs to get **** done before kickoff.

Also the football season is a lot shorter.

I grew up in metro detroit in the 90s, and I recall all the most important wings games being day games. Maybe it was just the 95 96 97 playoffs and it was only like 2 games, but it seemed like the biggest games started in the afternoon.
