    Picks Wait As Giants Open Camp

    It is no coincidence the NFL teams that open training camp early often get their draft picks signed earlier than the teams that start later. That's the way it often works in the mid-summer, when the pressure of missing practice sessions can spur on even the most lagging negotiations.
    The Giants report to camp tomorrow at the University at Albany and hit the practice field for the first time Friday morning. At present, the Giants have signed eight of their 11 draft picks but have yet to come to terms with No. 1 choice William Joseph, the defensive tackle from Miami expected to work his way into a playing rotation.

    Of the top four picks, only defensive end Osi Umenyiora, a second-round selection out of Troy State, has signed, getting a three-year deal worth $2.53 million, including a bonus of $1.16 million. MORE...
