Eric Crouch didn't wait until after training camp to remove himself from the NFL again.
For the second time in less than a year, the former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback decided to call it quits. Crouch informed Green Bay head coach/general manager Mike Sherman on Monday he didn't want to stay with the Packers.
The decision became official Tuesday morning, when Crouch was a conspicuous no-show for the start of the Packers' full-squad training camp at Clarke Hinkle Field. They placed him on the reserve/retired list.
"He just said, for personal reasons, he didn't want to continue," Sherman said.
It's unclear whether Crouch will remain in football. He was set to play in the Canadian Football League before the Packers signed him April 23.
His agent, Jim Steiner, echoed Sherman's statement, saying Crouch felt he no longer could continue to play football at this time. MORE...
