The guy plays hard but he doesn't have the skill to be on the top line.

He plays like Evander Kane with half the skill. I agree, he shouldn't be a first line guy. Buy Bylsma is changing lines so often it is hard to say how long that will last. One game? One period? One shift?

He does when Gionta is part of the top 9.

Two goals in two games. He's already more effective than Kane.

He is a player buffalo fans love. He plays hard he's an under dog and he's doing well.

I think hes a great piece to the team and that his home probably is lines 3 and 4 over the long haul.

Keep relegating him to 3rd and 4th lines mouth breathers.

No, he doesnt. But he does seem to find the net when put there, so, nothing wrong with shuffling the lines here and there and putting him up there.

So far it looks like I was wrong. 2 games is a small sample size though, and there's a good chance teams were overlooking him, which won't be happening for much longer. So, let's see if he can keep it up

Just get rid of Gionta.

I want Gionta here this season so guys like Eichel and O'Reilly can get his leadership experience rubbed off onto them. After they've sponged it up, though, we really have no use for him. I'd be surprised if ROR isn't wearing the C by the end of this season. And if he is, I think that's a win for Gionta, not a loss.

Gionta is useless.

dont get carried away with the two goals in two games. good for him but cmon, they were both on nifty feeds from ror. the first one he just chopped at and it found its way in - it counts but he didnt exactly gretzky it top shelf with a half inch to spare or nuthin. the second one he literally just stuck his stick out. he gets credit for crowding the net and hustle but thats not really top line skills. i coulda made those plays with a cane in one hand and a two by four in the other

Sometimes, it's not all about skill, but chemistry and grit.

With ROR feeding him, Mike Grier could be a PPG player.
