TBN : Lack of sacks by the Bills’ front four is puzzling

Well, Jay Skurski is puzzled anyway though he proceeds to tell you why he shouldn't be :

Not surprisingly, then, the highly paid members of that defensive line have started to get frustrated. Mario Williams made waves after Buffalo’s loss in Week Six to the Bengals, when he said he “set a record” for dropping into pass coverage. Shortly thereafter, Dareus agreed, pointing out the Bills “pay us a lot of money” to rush the passer.

That they do. So when it doesn’t happen, it’s understandable to question why. Analytics website Football Outsiders ranks the Bills’ defensive line 29th out of 32 teams through Week Seven in both defending the run and rushing the passer, a staggering disappointment considering what the Bills are spending up front.
They just told you Jay. Downright baffling why we have a lack of sacks from the linemen when we're dropping them into coverage, and you can see it, and they tell you so. It's very understandable to question why, and that much easier when it's as plain as the nose on your face and they even tell you.

Kyle Williams: Long a favorite of the analytics community, Kyle Williams’ ranking on PFF is currently 47th out of 191 graded players. He has nearly identical grades against both the run and pass. A knee injury suffered in Week Six against the Bengals held him out last week against Jacksonville. Williams is approaching the point in his career when it will be fair to wonder how much he’s got left. Grade: C+.
Well Jay, he's ah, defensing some passes. It's pretty fair to wonder how much he has left when he's, ah, attempting to defense passes.

    By damn it's puzzling.

Rex masks could become the new Guy Fawkes trend.

        Heh.

But schemes aside, I feel they haven't done much to stock the DL position. They haven't drafted one since Dareus in 2011.

That 2012 was more profitable than most. For any team. Gilmore, Glenn, Bradham and Brooks all still on the team. Tank Carder playing for Cleveland. That draft appears to be a success at 3 years out.

Of course, that TJ Graham selection in front of Russell Wilson, Nick Foles and Kirk Cousins will always stick in our craws.

2011 doesn't look too bad either.

Nice about those drafts, but what we have is a pricey front four and really not much of a bench, or anything in the pipeline. Big, really big, $$$ spent on 2 primarily pass-rushing specialists, who therefore must get the playing time in.

You nailed it Mace. How do people get paid for writing articles like that?
