The San Francisco 49ers (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/sf/san-francisco-49ers) have traded tight end Vernon Davis (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/9592/vernon-davis) to the Denver Broncos (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/den/denver-broncos).

In return for Davis and a 2016 seventh-round pick, the 49ers will get the Broncos' sixth-round pick in 2016 and 2017, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Makes sense. 49'ers are in a death spiral, Davis gets a tryout (becomes FA next year) with the Broncos who are looking for frosting on their cake.

Apparently the Broncos aren't impressed with Owen Daniels or what he brings so why not just let Virgil Green, a youngster, get more reps and a more prominent role in the offense?

Instead trade for a guy who's been injured on and off the past few seasons and hasn't been anything special when he was on the field during that time.

WGR said there's a rumor Denver picked up Joe Thomas-time will tell if that's true, but if it is they're loading up for this year.
