Now that Manning is out for at least this week & probably longer, Denver will finally get to see if Osweiler is worth re-signing as their QB of the future or not worth their investment in him when he was a 2nd round pick in 2012.
It will be interesting to see what happens if he lights it up. Can we have a Brady/Bledsoe situation where Peyton stays on the bench? If Osweiler does light it up, what does Denver do? He's an unrestricted free agent after the season. Will Denver franchise him or let him go? If he does well he'll get big $ & will still be generally untested.
Now if he looks like EJ, he may end up on the Gary Marangi career path, soon to be know to millennials as the EJ Manuel career path.
Any way you look at it, this is a great opportunity for Denver to evaluate Osweiler. It's also a great opportunity for Osweiler to make or lose millions.
