It's sad but at the same time kind of heart warming in the sense that those two people were so deeply connected. I've heard of this phenomena before, one spouse gets sick and dies and the other basically dies right after of a broken heart. It's not a coincidence. They must have had a great marriage. No doubt Doug is shocked and saddened but he also has to feel a lot of pride in who his parents were.
