Jets waive 2012 1st rounder Quentin Coples

Think there's a chance Rexy picks him up? He's certainly a higher value project then Ekempali.

Seems there is no injury just production reasons.

There are about 20 teams ahead of us in the waiver order though so I doubt we get him.

It looks like he has about a $2.8 mil cap hit for this season, but about $1.3 mil is prorated bonus money, which the Jets should still be on the hook for. So I think whatever team gets him is just responsible for what's left of his $1.5 mil base salary. He's due about $7.75 mil in 2016. Maybe that will keep teams from putting in a claim.

True his existing contract is a little much for us to absorb, but we can make a run at him if he clears waivers.

It looks like the $7.75 mil for 2016 is just base salary with no guaranteed money, so I guess they could still make a claim and then try to renegotiate a new deal, or just cut him without taking on dead money.

Claim him and make him captain on Week 17.

We can give him the nickname Mayback. *rimshot*
Lehner's history. He just doesn't know it yet.
