I brought this up when Bauer introduced the vortex cowling a few years ago. Now, they are using skates without a cowling. It basically gives you a better angle of attack, and more explosive pushes. I used to use a vortex cowling on my old grafs till graf introduced a new line of skates with a reduced cowling. Bauer uses a longer blade, which better for speed, but agility is much less.
