Watching the Baylor/Texas college hoop game.

Musberger and Fran Frascillia said there is a Buffalo Bills scout at the game scouting Rico Gathers from Baylor.

Gathers is 6'7" 275 pounds.

Hoop player who won't see the NBA but could he be another hoop player turned tight end ?

I'm glad they're making the best use of their scouts at basketball games.

Better then sitting home doing nothing.

Gates, Graham......Gathers ?????

275? I'd guess a UDFA OT developmental project.

They've been talking about it all night.
They are saying t-end. Who knows.
Guy is agile and athletic for his size.

This Gathers is a freaking beast !
I can see why they are looking at him.

They say there are so few great TE's anymore because they're all playing power forward in the NBA. So there's something to having a B-ball background and playing TE.

Might be better though to look for guys who play the intended sport with some experience and proficiency unless we need a shirts at the pickup game though.

Well go ahead Mace and call the Bills to let them know how your p***y is all wadded up tonight.

Gonzalez, Graham, Gates, Julian Thomas.

He's an interesting athlete. They have brought worse to camp that's for damn sure.

Trust me, I try and they never listen, they just slap me with more restraining orders. I appreciate your suggestion though.

Just because they're scouting a player doesn't mean they are drafting him. How many players do you think they scout?

Good. Leave no stone unturned. Considering the success some roundball players have had transitioning to TE, I welcome bringing somebody in for a run as a late draft pick or UDFA.

Sharp thinking. A nice idea in the red zone.

Remember Keith McKeller in the glory days ? The K-gun was named after him. He barely played football one year at Jacksonville State but was a star basketball player on the Division II national champs.

I'm guessing this guy has catchers mitts for hands and can jump out of the gym.

Surprised they caught him. I mean who would notice a 6'7" 275 guy walking out with loaded arms?

I doubt he'd be drafted.

That would be perfect. Bring him in as a UDFA. Low risk, high reward.

I really don't see why some people seem to have a problem with this. Sure it's a long shot, but what else do our scouts have to do in early February? It's not hurting our ability to scout or go after anyone else.

275 on a 6'7 frame is too slight for line.

Yup... offered for comparison. Jason Peters was a TE drafted at 6'4.5" 328

I'll be sad when Musberger passes on. He was a great radio play-by-man years ago - even today, still one of the most well-prepared announcers out there. Has long-standing national prominence, yet in a college game knows the players' numbers and their stories. Remarkable in this age of self-serving yakkers. Did all kinds of sports throughout his long career. No doubt he will enter into this or that Halls of Fame.

You're right. It just struck me as too big for TE and I didn't think it all the way through. Also, he's a double-double NCAA power forward with an NBA body. Why wouldn't he be looking at the NBA? He would have fit right in with the early 90's Knicks :)

Much harder to make it in the NBA, what with just 30 teams and 15 players on a roster.

I think Musberger is too old to really add anything to the team. Always though he wasn't in the weight room enough. I lost track of the thread but I'd rather have Cowher as TE depth.

I'm sure the NBA is his first choice, but if that doesn't work out the NFL is an option.

I only heard about Coastal. But then again everyone has contracts out on Coastal. I couldn't believe Catholic Charities even does, much less Mormons for Impoverished Buddhists, and Albino Paraplegics for Krishna. That's what happens when you flout common decency for your selfish lusts, break hearts and trample upon the moral standards of everyone without regard to regarding stuff.

And was then converted to LT... a Pro Bowl LT that the Bills' brain trust let walk. SMDH.

The Eagles gave us a 1st, 4th, and 6th round draft pick for him. You may not consider that enough (I know I don't) but the Bills certainly didn't let him walk.

You're thinking of Keith Jackson. Musberger is the guy who was perving so hard on Jenn Sterger that it got her a modeling contract.
