Re: Is Mike Mayock losing his credibility here?
It's the way of the national draft analysts. You gotta find your guy every year and you better sell him hard and hope you're right.
Wentz is a good prospect, but I don't think he's in Luck's class, but Mayock would know more than me.COMING SOON...

Wait. Maybe Mayock's not as credible as reported when he originally hit the national scene as a "draft expert:"
(Of course, he also preferred Blaine Gabbert to Cam Newton in 2011, so take it for what it’s worth.)

It's typical draft posturing.
It takes 2-3 seasons to make an accurate judgment on whether a QB is going to amount to anything. If Mayock is right, he will remind everyone of this and look like a genius. If he's wrong, he will keep his mouth shut and it'll be long forgotten.
It's low risk, high reward.

Don't tell that to half the board. You can judge a draft pick solely from his first pre-season game."'Clean up your room.', 'Stand up straight.', 'Pick up your feet.', 'Take it like a man.', 'Be nice to your sister.', 'Don't mix beer and wine, ever.'. Oh yeah, 'Don't drive on the railroad track.'"
"Eh, Phil. That's one I happen to agree with."

Much of what he said about Gabbert was true, he had plenty of physical tools, but he never mentioned Gabbert's lack of production at Mizzou, or his jitteriness in the pocket. His predecessor, the less talented Chase Daniel, blew him away in the productivity.
eh..it happens at times. Years ago, Ozzie Newsome had Jamarcus Russell as his highest rated player in that draft.
I wouldn't shy away from hiring Ozzie as my GM.

I don't make too much of it. I'm not sure where Luck's ceiling is atm after 4 years. Colts success with him so far is because they've feasted on division opponents. Outside their division Luck is a .500 QB. Could Wentz manage .500 against the league in general ?
Then again, I'm not sure what Luck's ceiling is after 4 years, and like Cookie said, everyone is wrong sometimes.
I love listening to Mayock, but I kind of realize I don't even know how accurate he is, I don't ever really pay attention to his conclusions as much as all the stuff he gives you to chew on about a prospect.
