Saves 3.9 mill in cap space

I like Leodis the corner, decent. But I'll never get past his uncanny ability to screw up at the worst possible times. It was unreal.

Later Odis !

The <s>#</s>Bills (https://twitter.com/hashtag/Bills?src=hash) are releasing CB Leodis McKelvin, source said. No restructure. Will be an interesting free agent.

Looks like they decided not to restructure at all. Per Ian Rapoport the Bills cut McFumbles

Saves $3.9 Million

I'd sign him back at vet minimum... Don't think he'll do better than that in FA.

They offered him a new contract, but he fumbled the pen. Cut.

Not sure how I feel about opening up another hole, but I've never been a fan of McFumbles. To me, he's a sort of microcosm for the reasons this team can't win. He's not a bad player, but he never lived up to his draft status and he offset a lot of the good things he did by making mistakes at critical points in games.

The hole that "opens up" was filled last year when they drafted Darby. They have enough nickel backs.

Not to say they won't use another high pick on a dB...this is the Bills after all.

But...this is a guy that was drafted before Joe Flacco, when the Bills desperately needed a QB. And he was picked one place in front of Ryan Clady.

On the other hand...picks 5-9 that year were Glenn Dorsey, Vernon Gholston, Sedrick Ellis, Derrick Harvey and Keith Rivers.

Busts were busting out all over the place that year.

I'm slightly surprised by this but to this day his fumble on the kickoff return to New England on Monday night continues to haunt me. Later dude.

I'll seriously always remember McKelvin as one of the best coverage corners I've ever seen. He was always on his man like a blanket. Unfortunately I'll also remember McKelvin for never having the vaguest idea where the ball was to make a play, or even that a ball had much to do with his job as a db.

Saw who he could have been that one year under Pettine. A flash and then gone. My best to him.

That's really not fair-they thought they had their QB in Trent Edwards, and for some reason still hadn't totally given up on JP.

CB's are so easy to find. Draft, FA or UFA.

McKelvin leaving is no big deal at all. Saves $ for actual talent.

What a joke this team has been..... and now they've doubled down on Ryan - literally. Rob and Rex. Wonder Twin Powers..... ACTIVATE!!!! lol

LOL...that makes it doubly fair.

1. Thinking a cb is more important than a QB and ;

2. Thinking Trent Edwards was a franchise QB.

Move Graham back to corner.

Have you looked at the teams depth chart at safety lately? That move seems unlikely, particularly given the uncertainty over Aaron Williams.

I don't care about the depth chart at safety. Graham is a much better/more valuable player at corner.

OMG Thia ia terrible!

~Atleast in my family & circle o' friends...
-Players we drafted who are of above average quality. McKelvin, Kelsay,Chandler TE, these players have MORE value because we drafted them.(ugh name dropped Kelsay)
-If we resign McKelvin then great, but I suspect our meglamania defensive minded son of 85 Bears Defense will have it his way.
-I don't expect everyone to agree. if we missed the playoffs and play a division game last game of the season & you want the Bills to lose then I suspect the 12.5 mill in cap space makes you sip a guiness. I hate that mentality..
-I don't care about cap space anymore. because they work it out if they want to..i just would rather be mediocre with players we are attached to..
--Its funny how much my tune has changed about Leodis....
When we drafted him as the drafts top CB prospect oputta Troy = all my afc Rival Frenemies blew up cellphones everywhere laughiong at the combination
of his Southern almost Caijian accent and his mush-mouth. it was enough that it annoyed,,,years later and I'm all bummed-out that we cut him.

~~Bottom Line--I guess he cant stay healthy and it was a lonnng time ago when he was a dangerous PR. KR & PR Guys only have 3-4 years of elite special teams in returns. Who was that awesome KC Chief who also torched us for 80 yard TD reception one year/game to beat us>? and the Bears legendary dude & Santana Moss....... I guess just this text kinda leveled me about this...I was pretty P.O'd when I arrived.. my typing is even all wrecked in beginning. then again its wrecked everywhere :D

and yeah agreed he will sign with NE :(

Corey Graham is a good cornerback.

Miami is reportedly intrested him.
So the question now becomes if Miami retains Miller, and signs McKelvin, will Mckelvin forgive him for this?

Bills have Gilmore, Darby, Roby and Butler. Graham might return to CB.

And suddenly, this creates some imaginary hole. What a load..

There's going to come a point in the future, either the end of this season or sometime in 2007, where people will realize most things that happened starting with the Wrecks hire has been 'a load'.

It does create a hole, albeit not a very big one, that is likely to be filled by Cromartie in the nickel slot.

No big loss here, so long Leodis.

Pretty sure McKelvin knew what he can get before turning down Bills request to restructure - I imagine far below that figure. His current deal with the Bills average $4 mil a year

He also might be thinking he can play his way up to a bigger deal in Philly. Here, he'd be a backup or a converted safety.
