My guess is that we start hearing some action from the Bills brass on a new player on Tuesday and that it's Demario Davis.

I'm saying we sign Demario Davis on Thursday the 17th to a 3 year deal at 3.5 mill per with a cap hit of 2.5 in year 1.

Can't even guess. They have no money yet. Spotrac shows them in the negative with the draft pool.

Gave this some thought. Monday. Bills sign Johnny Manziel and he pays them 75 dollars a week to be personal punt protector.

I was looking for a "Manziel Released" thread so I could say "Bring him in!"

But for the sake of the game, I'll say Jasper Brinkley for 2 years, 2.8 mil on Thursday.

As of this morning it's 5.6 with getting the Hogan money back. 4.88 for the rookies but that was before the two compensatory's.

Time to get Glenn a long term deal and call Kyle Williams to reduce his number. Otherwise, see you at the draft. FA is over.

They already included the compensatories, which increased draft pool to $5,763,605. We have $-118,991 to spend on FA's atm.

What a crappy business outfit. Can't manage money, can't develop players - when's the last time anyone lusted over a Bills' FA?

Yet the stadium gets packed. Go figure...

Ok, to clarify myself for um, myselfs benefit, they have 5.644 million available until they want to sign their draft class, when they'll be in trouble. But that also offers time to address Glenn, Gilmore and maybe Kyle.

Where did you get that new draft pool #? 4.8 to 5.7 because of a 4th and 6th? That doesn't seem right.

That's all true. They don't have to sign the picks until TC. They have until mid July to extend Glenn. So, they could spend the room they have but would need to make further moves to get the draft class signed.

Breakdown near the bottom of the page after the player listings.

The method they use for calculating pool numbers is 450k x number of picks. It doesn't mean a team will use that whole number though. They could theoretically sign all the picks for 4.8 or less still. The money itself doesn't even come into play until they actually sign people up to it, just has to be available under the cap as I understand it.

Breakdown near the bottom of the page after the player listings. One thing to remember:
"Rookie Pool Estimates

The Rookie Pool is the total cost in cap dollars that a team needs to sign its rookies in the summer. The cap space required to do this is less than the rookie pool. This is because every draft pick signed will replace a player already counting against the cap."

http://overthecap.com/draft/

As of now the cut-off player at 51st highest cap figure this year is Seward at 555K. If our 5th, 6th's, and/or 7th rounders make the team and Seward or anyone above Seward in cap hit doesn't, we save cap space. That's because the 5th, 6th, and 7th round draftees will each have contracts that count less than 555K against the cap.

This is true, I just tried to explain it in an edit to my last post. But that is not a substantial number anyway (couple million maybe), and they still need to account for in season adds (usually at least a couple million).

I think:

Kyle is likely to be restructured- Health may be the reason he hasn't already. They may need assurance that he's fine from injury before they can form a new contract with a lower hit
Glenn and Gilmore both get extended IMO and we could gain 4-5 mill in cap room right there based on the way they are structured
Carpenter may be cut before the season starts if a rookie looks better
Felton, and Goodwin may lose jobs to younger players or rookies. I wouldn't surprise me if a FB type gets drafted or signed. Baby Gronk may be on the menu for us.

No, I don't think you'll see any big namers. But I do think guys like Cromartie and Demario Davis are very much in play.

Only thing that bothers me, by being so snug against the cap atm, they're giving bargaining power to Glenn, Gilmore and Kyle if he's in play. The players all have a license to play hardball in negotiations, except Kyle, unless you'd think they'd cut him, which I don't think is their best PR move though certainly possible. Anyone they think to sign in FA, gives those players more power still and decreases the chances they'll go along with anything.

A bit of breathing room to add a FA but it would be a cheap one.
