Robbins goes on Raiders' PUP list

NAPA, Calif. (AP) -- All-Pro center Barret Robbins was among four players placed on the Oakland Raiders' physically-unable-to-perform list after failing physicals on the eve of training camp Thursday.

Robbins' assignment to the PUP list was expected. He needs a few more days to finish rehabilitation from arthroscopic knee surgery performed in April.

Robbins has been welcomed back to the Raiders since he was suspended just hours before the Super Bowl following a two-day drinking binge that included a trip to Tijuana and thoughts of suicide.

Just being on the field again felt like a victory. Barret Robbins' journey continued Tuesday when the Pro Bowl center, now a second-stringer, joined the Raiders in an afternoon workout.

His five-day stint on the team's physically unable to perform list ended and Robbins tested his surgically repaired right knee in limited nine-on-seven drills. He participated in eight-to-10 plays, Robbins said, a good end to a day he's waited for since his humiliating Super Bowl dismissal. ...
