34? Jim Braxton would have loved to see the day his number was retired

Well deserved. Bruce was such a beast. I bet Marino still has nightmares.

I heard a rumor that Thurman's number will be retired next year. No idea if there's any truth to it or not.

About time.

He was the best player on that 90s Bills team.

It's about time. He was too cool off the field as well. anyone remember this time he went down, hands in pockets, glaring with menace at the interviewer ?

Back at ye olde range, Lit made me an animated gif of this in reverse, looks like Smith rising from the dead to steal the interviewers soul. Still have the gif, made from a lower quality version. Still makes me howl.

Seriously though, it really is about time and I'm delighted.

The host should get a gig on a national news show. He is completely oblivious and just keeps in keeping on.

Love how he sort of wants to try and keep Smith from falling and reaches toward him without enthusiasm because he's stuck trying to figure out how to keep a guy that size from going down without grabbing his expensive suit or ticking Smith off anyway by laying hands upon him in fractions of a second. The look on Smiths face is so involuntarily malevolent as he's going down.

probably the only buffalo bill who it could be argued was the BEST EVER at his position without sounding like a homer. Which is amazing if you think about it.

Bruce is my all time favorite player. I still have a 78 jersey that I got in 1992. Half the letters are falling off the back, though.

34 Yes, 83 Yes. The rest nope sorry they were above average but not elite.

If we ever actually win a championship we're going to have to resort to letters after the numbers. Bruce deserves it though.

Talent wise Bruce was the second best Bill of all time IMO. With OJ taking the top spot.

Even though 34 isn't officially retired, I can't remember seeing anyone but Thurman wear it.

And it pisses me off to see other players wearing 83.....

I was actually watching that live when it happened. Could not believe it. It took me a second to process that it wasn't a joke.

At any rate, the fans should be pretty much going hog-wild at the home opener...prime time division game, retiring Bruce's number...

61 is not 51, but Bob Kalsu. He was the only pro to die in Vietnam. Was just feeling sentimental when I posted that.

I love the jester but its only a number, I hate when teams start retiring everyone they think was great on there team, before you no it there won't be many numbers to wear, look at the Yankees, its hard to find a number under 30 anymore. I think they should hoist a jersey with the individuals name on it yet let other people wear the number, 32 hasn't been worn by anyone yet its not officially retired. Kellys #12 was the 1st.

Well, I agree with you, they should retire Kalsu's number.

I would put 32 back in circulation in exchange for 61. OJ kinda disgraced the team. We could leave him on the wall, but his jersey should never be retired.

I would also retire 89. Tasker defined special teams assassin, but definitely 12, 34, 61, 78, and 83. That is only five numbers, six if we add Tasker. That is 94 or 95 numbers left

what he did in Buffalo is what 32 represents not what we think he did in LA. Its hard but his football life still is a great thing, what one duz after is after and you can't take away those great moments in history. Its a shame but who would want to wear that number?
