All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!

Jim Kelly believes Rex will be fired after the season.
Bills coach Rex Ryan is looking to improve on a disappointing 8-8 record last season. If he doesn't and Buffalo misses the playoffs, Hall of Fame QB Jim Kelly thinks Ryan will lose his job.
As much as it might be the best thing to do, I'm not sure I see it happening. Not many people are willing to eat 3 years of a 5 year deal.
It remains to be seen, I guess.
There have been a lot of rumors in that direction, but Pegula's time with the Sabres suggests he's not one for drastic moves to clean house. Regier had only a season and a half but he had been in Buffalo for what, 14? Murray's was allowed to tank out the team for two years without getting fired either. I don't really see an 8-8 or 9-7 non-playoff season leading to a bloodbath, seeing as that would be our best three year stretch of football since 1998-2000 (Ugh that hurts to write).
Re: Jim Kelly believes Rex will be fired after the season.
If the Bills don't make the playoffs this year, I think the Pegulas should hire more Ryan family members to coach. Cousins, nephews, childhood friends.

But we shall see, I guess.
Didn't Whaley just get an extension for an undisclosed length of time, too? If Rex goes I'd have to think Whaley would be right behind him. That a lot of money to get no return on.
Re: Jim Kelly believes Rex will be fired after the season.
I don't think anyone is getting booted after this season year, regardless. As mentioned, Pegula's glacial pace, and there will be handy excuses. I wish, but don't think so. I think Kelly wishes too, or maybe hopes playoffs and he's seeking to motivate because he doesn't sense a lack of urgency in Ryan, like nearly everyone.
Rallying cry will be that it all comes together in year 3.
Re: Jim Kelly believes Rex will be fired after the season.
I'm sure Rex will get fired after the season if the Bills don't make the playoffs. Then, Doug Whaley will be allowed to pick the coach he wants. Just like it should have been done in the first place.

I agree that's a lot of money to get no return on. But it's far from obvious that they'd get a return on that money even if they kept Ryan and Whaley.
