DALLAS (AP) -- Dallas Stars captain Mike Modano never expected to find his 1999 Stanley Cup Championship ring for sale on eBay.
But that's where the ring was before Thursday.
Modano's business manager Bob Murray took the blame late Thursday for what he said was a misunderstanding on his part.
"I am happy to report that the ring is now in safekeeping and under Mike's control. The listing has been pulled from eBay," Bob Murray said in a statement.
He said Modano asked him to take the ring to deBoulle Jewelers in Dallas to be duplicated.
The arrangement allowed the jeweler to display the ring in the store. Murray said that due to a misunderstanding on his part, deBoulle was also authorized to sell the ring.
