IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Dallas Stars president Jim Lites and general manager Doug Armstrong were given contract extensions Friday.
Lites signed a six-year extension that runs through the 2008-09 season, and Armstrong, at 38 the youngest GM in the NHL, signed a two-year extension through the 2007-08 season.
"Jim has done an excellent job on the business side of the organization, and I believe that Doug is the best young general manager in hockey," Stars owner Tom Hicks said. "These signings give us stability and a solid management foundation as we head into the future."
