WASHINGTON (AP) -- Mike Grier signed a one-year contract on Thursday to stay with the Washington Capitals.
Grier had 15 goals and 17 assists last season, his first with the Capitals, while playing all 82 games. He had a goal and an assist in Washington's six-game playoff loss to Tampa Bay in the first round.
The right wing was acquired by the Capitals on Oct. 7, 2002, in a trade with Edmonton. He played 448 games for the Oilers over six seasons, totaling 81 goals and 102 assists.
