Alexander Nylander is now a Sabre.

His highlights are fantastic. They all need more work on NHL level D play and a few more lbs. but holy hell, those hands and his insane puck handling ability is rare.

I can see the attraction. Nice job, Murray.

I may have said it here before...but if not, I'll do so now: Put Nylander on a line with Eichel and Reinhart, and let the party begin. Fun for us Sabre fans...not so much for the 29(soon to be 30)other teams.

I just noted on Twitter(you can follow me there with the handle @buffalocharging)that Chychrun is going to be VERY motivated for whichever team picks him, and give every other team the Stone Cold Salute.

The biggest knock on Chychrun is his supposed lack of ability to process and make decisions quickly in a fast paced game... I m stunned the Bruins didn't take him.... Some scouts are saying they don't think Chychrun will be any better than a Zach Bogosian... And even if that is the case nothing wrong with trading up to get your future No.3 defensemen in the mid 1st round

They cleared salary by trading Datsyuk's contract to Arizona. Looks like Stamkos will be a Red Wing.

Other teams will back the truck up to stamkos door. Detroit isn't as attractive to free agents as it used to be. But yeah, they'll be in the mix. Maybe opening a new arena will be used as a selling point.

Also, love seeing the Bruins in the loser column again.

I have one.

However, in this thread, ********** was following other team's picks when they were made butt simply forgot the Bruins' pick.

It was just an observation.

I expect no intelligent discussion of Bruin draft choices here.

I go elsewhere for that my Bills brethren.

The Hockey News listed him at #25 over all.

Never mind Jakob Chychrun dropping over 10 spots, Pu dropped into the third round! Granted, that's because in London the team is incredibly deep. THN notes he's an all-around player who does everything well, but nothing elite.

Charles McAvoy has to be the most depressed 1st round pick he was taken by the Bruins a team that he hates with a passion

http://www.csnne.com/boston-bruins/charlie-mcavoy-tweeted-he-hates-bruins-so-much-2013

The Bruins drafted a forward in the 1st round and admit its highly unlikely he will be a top 6 forward lol so dumb they took Trent Frederic at 29 instead of Alex Debrincat the Bruins GM is a moron

Ray Bourque was so depressed by how the bruins drafted Friday night he got smashed and was charged with DUI

As do I.

Look at it this way: Sam Reinhart had to head back to the WHL for a season after we drafted him to get him NHL ready. Hasn't affected his game, has it?

Lightning could strike twice with Nylander.

Nylander needs to work on his strength. I'm not sure he's ready for the AHL yet, but the SHL would be a big step up from the OHL

pysyk deal is a tough one. he made the dmen he played with better most nights. but he also doesn't stand out and have "wow" games. we'll know that value later this year of the panthers dman can make us forget him or if we moved on from pysyk too early.

Glotov just drafted by cape Breton of the Q In the first round of the CHL import draft (36th OA) and he seems to be excited about possibly coming over to play and develop in NA. here's hoping. It would go a long way for his career, IMO.

Draft grades. Gave the sabres an A- But did not like the pysyk deal.

Bleacher Report gave the Sabres entire draft class a B; it notes that Nylander was a strong pick and could end up playing a role on Jack Eichel's line(Alex's selection itself got a B+, in that it might be 2-3 years for him to be an NHL regular and that the team could use more immediate help). And as for Austin Osmanski, they call him a big defensive defenseman in an era where that type of player is fading from the game. It concludes "The team's first 3 selections(Alex, Rasmus Asplund and Cliff Pu)made the draft a success." (Sidebar: Though Cliff grew up in Toronto, he never truly became a Maple Leafs fan(guess why? :D ) and said that hearing the Sabres fans boo the hell out of the Leafs when they made their picks was surreal to hear.)
