The slow pace of rookie contract negotiations continued throughout the NFL on Friday, and Willis McGahee remained among the top picks without a deal.
Only 14 of 32 first-round picks were under contract as of Friday night.

McGahee, the Bills' No. 1 pick, was the 23rd overall choice in the April draft. None of the players taken from the 14th to 25th picks had signed a deal. The more deals that are signed by the picks just before McGahee, the better the odds that the Bills can strike a contract because the parameters for his contract will be more firmly set.

Bills President and General Manager Tom Donahoe and McGahee's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said the two sides continue to work on a deal.

"When the system was created it was designed to eliminate holdouts," said Donahoe. "It didn't do that last year and it doesn't look like it's going to do that this year. So you have to start to question what's wrong with the system.
