clearly dominated by Cyrus Kouandjio

1st time I've heard that. Anybody that is dominated by Kujo should just give up the game.

Pretty floater from Tyrod Taylor to Greg Salas, beats Javier Arenas. pic.twitter.com/zHEeFUfkR0 (https://t.co/zHEeFUfkR0)

Vid: Cardale Jones deep to Walter Powell, who juggles then catches. Jones hardly used arm here. Flick of the wrist. pic.twitter.com/l73nIjYLed (https://t.co/l73nIjYLed)

No way to know if he masters it, but Cardale Jones has some serious arm going.

Jones can throw field as needed, where it's going is anyone's guess.

Taylor had the fifth highest qb rating (104) on pass plays over 15 yards last season.

I don't see the need in hoping that Jones' deep ball will develop.

Watch the videos, the guy fires it deep with no effort whatever. I'm not sure Taylor even stays healthy this year much less over the next couple. Jones is a young QB with a cannon, and he's younger than Taylor, makes Manuel's arm look feeble.

That's the significance. If he and Taylor both develop, no more worry about the position. If one of them develops, we have way less worry down the road. You don't even have to be sold on either to take an interest in this version of maybe however it turns out.

By the same token :

Cardale Jones just threw a pass so far off target it knocked the phone out of the hand of a reporter 40 feet behind the sideline.

Taylor's problem isn't he deep ball, it's the short stuff and the middle of the field that's the problem.

That's not Taylor. Green is completions, red is failed attempts. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/film-room/2016/film-room-tyrod-taylor

You heard about his red zone production on the short field today correct ? He was amazing. His middle field stuff in the 10-25 yard range was a problem last season, hopefully he's getting there. If he fixes that & stays healthy, we will be a difficult out on offense. If he gets it all fixed up where teams are forced to guard the whole field, we will run will on teams as well.

Everything is predicated on health, there is no one behind Taylor that can play like him. When I mean no one, I'm saying we only have one NFL QB right now, a good one that should improve.

Red Zone improvement is a step in the right direction. Related is his awful production at the end of halves. Both are needed to be a big game qb.

Oh I agree about the middle of the field needing improvement (the middle of the field being the highlighted void on Mace's chart).

Jones has a canon but I'm not going to bite. I want to see him develop general qbing skills first. Like standing in the pocket under pressure and hitting crossing patterns.

I can't really evaluate the throw unless I know that.

I don't know. Sal Maiorana stopped returning my calls a decade ago after I misplaced his car.

Well, I might of misplaced the one he got after I misplaced the first also, and maybe some of his electronics when he wasn't home too, but yes, he's clearly a sorehead.

He's probably Southern Italian.
