    With the hard, dry ground, I see that flash floods are possible. No more RWS drownings, please.

                Flash floods kill. Certainly less of a problem in relatively flat regions, but even there, rapid rises in creeks and streams can take lives.

                There have been several deaths in the SW Ohio area since I've lived here. When I lived in Western PA, the young son of a good friend of mine was playing around a rolling creek by his home. There was a long period of rain - the hills collect and collect, and can suddenly release a torrent. The lad was swept away and was recovered from a culvert pipe that went under a road.
