WRT Taylor - Dalton, Kaep contract article.

    FYI stuff...

I recall when Dalton signed, folks said that his was the model for future contracts. Here's a link that discusses that:

Dalton contract with Bengals sets middle-class market for QBs

As it turned out, the Dalton's contract may have cost him:

The timing of Andy Dalton's injury could cost the quarterback millions

Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton could earn a maximum of $15 million in contract escalators, but his broken thumb may put both those incentives and Cincinnati's season in danger.

Re: WRT Taylor - Dalton, Kaep contract article.

By not allowing — even with a Super Bowl win — Dalton to reach the $20 million a year threshold, the Bengals are indicating that teams are putting far too much of a premium on playoff success over a much larger sample of performance in the regular season.

I'd pay a middlin' regular season guy that steps up in the playoffs (like Eli) before a better than average regular season performer that tanks when it's one-and-done (Dalton). Lewis should just come out and say 'We just want to make the playoffs, we don't give a **** what happens after that'.

Go ask Carson Palmer about Coach-for-Life Marvin's big game management.
