Dareus told reporters on Wednesday that the suspension arises from a missed test, and that he first learned of the potential suspension on Saturday.

Dareus learned of potential suspension August 13th.

Bills coach Rex Ryan told reporters that Ryan learned of the potential suspension on Tuesday

MitchMurrayDowntown learned of potential suspension July 27th. He also claimed it was a failed test, not a missed test.

It's not uncommon to skip a test when you know you are going to fail.
He's is the program that requires periodic testing.

fwiw, I think it's dumb to suspend for weed use. But it is the rule. And everyone knows.

I'm not sure what you'd appeal for a missed test. With a failed test you can force them to test the B sample, but if you don't show up there's not much you can say. They are generally pretty good about notifying the players.
