    Derel ‘Sky’ Walker

It’s not the last chance to watch Derel ‘Sky’ Walker play here. But after Friday’s game at Commonwealth Stadium, you have to figure the countdown will begin.

To this point, there’s been no mention made of the fact that last year’s CFL Award winner as most outstanding rookie, and a leading candidate to be the league’s most outstanding player award winner this year, almost certainly will be in the NFL next year.

As a free agent at the end of the season, Walker has become the elephant in the Edmonton dressing room.

After Friday, the Eskimos have three regular-season home games remaining in which fans will be able to watch the young talent who has caught 58 passes for 837 yards and, along with teammate Adarius Bowman, has a chance to break CFL single-season records.

    • Sept. 10 — Calgary.

    • Sept. 23 — British Columbia.

    • Nov. 5 — Toronto.

    That’s it.

Because Walker spent the first six games of last season on the practice roster, it’s going to be like, “We hardly knew ya.”

Here he comes. Here he is. There he goes.

With what Walker has accomplished in his first 20 regular-season games and what he could be projected to do in the 10 that remain this season, it is almost unthinkable to contemplate any way that NFL teams won’t be competing to throw money at the 25-year-old from Hillsboro, Texas, that all 32 franchises failed to select in the draft.

Last year, in 12 games, Walker had 89 catches for 1,110 yards. Going into Friday’s fixture against the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Commonwealth Stadium, he’s just short of averaging 100 yards a game for his entire CFL career. He’s caught 147 passes for 1,947 yards.

What NFL team doesn’t have a spot for a guy who can give them that?

“With a guy like Derel, you have to appreciate their presence when they’re here,” said Bowman, who leads the league with 83 catches for 875 yards.

“He’s a special guy and I wish nothing but the best for him. He’s very humble and a great person. I’m enjoying every moment I get with him.More....

If the bills do not look at this guy your GM should be fired.
