Lehner drops out of World Cup

With about a week and a half until the start of training camps for the World Cup of Hockey, one Buffalo Sabre has withdrawn from competition.

Goaltender Robin Lehner has pulled himself out of competition for Team Sweden as he continues to recover from last season's ankle injury. Lehner, 25, was listed as Sweden's third goalie on the roster behind New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist and Vancouver Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom.

"As Robin continues to progress during the offseason in his rehab from last season's ankle injury, he felt that it was best to withdraw from Team Sweden for the upcoming World Cup," Sabres general manager Tim Murray said in a team statement. "Robin felt it was important to continue his rehab in Buffalo to prepare for training camp. He has been working out both on and off the ice and we look forward to seeing him on the ice with our team next month."

I really think he's too fragile. He hasn't finished a season since juniors.
