MACOMB, Ill. - The Rams lost two players to injury on Friday, rookie offensive guard Scott Tercero and wide receiver Mike Furrey.

Tercero, a sixth-round draft pick who also may play some center, tore cartilage in his knee in the morning practice. He's scheduled to have surgery today and is expected to be out six weeks.

"Weight lifting last week he tweaked it and in just a no-contract drill out here he slipped and fell down," Rams coach Mike Martz said. "Like we've said many times that's just the luck of this game. You just can't do anything about that."

Furrey suffered a sprained ankle, also in the morning, and is expected to be out several weeks. He went down after a running back ran into him from behind while he was blocking a defensive back.

"Mike's going to be fine," Martz said. "I really like this young man. I think he's got a future with us. We've just got to make sure that when he comes back he's ready to come back."

Furrey was impressive in the offseason, and in the first few practices at camp. He has a legitimate chance to win the sixth wide receiver spot ahead of Dane Looker.

Another player missing from Friday afternoon's practice was offensive tackle John St. Clair, who was being treated for dehydration.
