Agreed.

The thing is I feel like at this stage of the off-season being familiar with the team and schemes almost trumps talent at times... That a player like that is a no-brainer add at the start of the off-season but now they may rather go with guys already on the team that know the system

Ya but you can integrate a couple of players into the team and system even at this point.

A player like Hunter can be a red-zone role player until he gets comfortable or ready to contribute in the regular offense.

I loved him at Tenn (univ) but I haven't watched him much since.

Sankey is terrible. No thanks

I'm with Lecter about Sankey. He's not worth a bucket of horse piss.

Hunter is a head chase, injury machine. No thanks as well.

Reggie BushMcCoy insurance...

I'd rather grab a guy that can return to keep Bush strictly in the backup RB role.

Bush wasn't signed to be the backup RB that is Gilly and Williams. Bush was signed to be a Punt Returner and Kick Returner.

I think Bush was signed for more than just special teams.

He'll get work on 3rd downs and I also expect to see him coming out of the backfield and lining up in the slot occasionally.

If anything happens to McCoy he might step into RB1.

Powell is an adequate fill-in for when Bush gets injured.

None of the cuts so far impress me.

In fact, I'd say we've cut the best player so far on the way down to 53 in Manny Lawson.

Seems like most teams are waiting until tomorrow.

You think we built our O-line just dandy, why do we need him with all those savvy picks ?

Detroit cut LB Chi Chi Ariguzzo and Dallas cut LB Henoc Muamba, in cuts to 75 Jags dumped LB Joplu Bartu. Never heard of any of them but they're LB's with cool names I'd be good with moving to tight end or fullback in a fruitless attempt to gather guys with cool names and switch their positions.

BUF should pay strict attention to CIN's cuts tomorrow. Their Player Personnel director Tobin is one of the best in the business, and they are certainly one of the deepest clubs overall in the league. Their practice squads get routinely raided.

I really like Tobin as a future GM candidate if anyone could pry him away from the Bengals.

Doubtful - it's the B'gals loyalty thing. See also Coach-For-Life Marvin.

Tobin gets interviewed by the local announcers during the preseason games. Great insight.

Maybe somebody not-so-bright enough to cash checks for $25mil-plus for an equally not-so-bright head coach would have enough bucks to entice him to switch cities.

Thats what they say. They signed him right after Karlos W. got suspended.

Only time will tell

Best player cut is Packers OG Josh Sitton. He'll have several calls today or will be claimed off waivers.

Jets cut TE Jace Amaro, that really caught my attention. 38 catches in his rookie year 2014 (Geno Smith QB), missed 2015 with a torn labrum. More receiver than blocker, very high ceiling. Cheap.

The Bills had a TE that offered nothing in the passing game last year in Mulligan. They jettisoned him midseason. I can't imagine that Dray is that amazing of a blocking TE that he is going to be valuable in this offense. If he's healthy he might be worth bringing on board. They could even get rid of a safety and keep Dray if they are that high on Dray's blocking skills.

I'm just really iffy about the TEs on this team after Gragg went down. O'Leary has done nothing aside from the second half of the last preseason game and Dray you could cover easily with any LB and not have to worry about him breaking one.

Camaro had some strong words against Rex last year so doubt we'd pursue him. I mentioned Busta Anderson in a previous thread. Logan Paulsen might be worth a shot. With Manny cut I could see if could Coples on the cheap.

I still think that DL should be looked at. I perused the cuts and didn't see anyone that interesting, but I'm not an NFL personnel guy. I don't like 5 active DLs with one of them being Kyle coming off a knee injury and being 30+. I have a feeling Dareus is going to be gone for more than the first four weeks.

Couple guys I liked coming out of college, likely destined for the cutting teams practice squads.

DL Matt Ioannidis : Had a good preseason as a versatile DL but the Redskins want him to bulk up and be a pure NT. High motor, smart, flexible.
OLB/DE James Cowser : Raiders have an embarrassment of defensive riches atm, had a good preseason, but he's not Jihad Ward or Khalil Mack.

Prior to the trading deadline veterans (4 or more years in the league) aren't subject to waivers. Sitton became a free agent immediately once the cut became official (4 PM).

You are right, though, he probably is going to get a lot of interest.

Henry Melton
Cullen Jenkins
Cam Thomas
Kendrick Ellis
Quentin Coples

Sitton signed a nice deal with Chicago, over $21mil in guarantees.
