Rookie leaves camp with shoulder injury

NAPA, Calif. (AP) -- Raiders rookie cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha bruised his right shoulder Saturday while trying to break up a pass during the team's first training camp practice in pads.

The team's first-round draft pick had to be helped from the field. He was later taken to a hospital, where an MRI exam revealed no significant damage. Coach Bill Callahan said Asomugha will not practice Sunday and is day-to-day.

Asomugha, who is competing for the right cornerback position left vacant by Tory James' offseason move to Cincinnati, was hurt when he collided with fellow rookie Doug Gabriel.
