Per Mike Rodak of ESPN.

The Bills have released TE Jim Dray and promoted TE Gerald Christian from their practice squad. Dray, a veteran blocking tight end, had a minimal impact over the first four games of the season.

It's all about Clay and O'Leary now. No biggie.

I hope Christian can block, since Dray wasn't a pass catching option. And he is a fairly good blocker at the position.

We still have to make room for Marcell and Henderson.

Perhaps we've finally moved along from kickoff specialists and TE blocking specialists.

During Buffalo’s first two games, Jim Dray had 21 snaps, and the other tight end on the roster, Nick O’Leary, had six. Since Lynn’s promotion, Dray has only been on the field for 9 offensive snaps against O’Leary’s 41.

Dray was an obvious Roman signing due to his connection to him at Stanford. I'm not saying he was a problem/serviceable as don't have any memorable plays he was part of except when he got hurt. Yet it might be wise to get rid of guys that were Pro Roman to avoid any locker room issues/problems.

Tyrod forgot about Dray.

Well, I'm not sure a guy like Dray isn't just happy to be getting a salary, he's not going to be seeing many passes anyway, but you could be right.

The thing that stands out to me though is when say, the Pats have a 2 TE formation, they're both receiving threats, also willing to block, so having a blocking specialist TE telegraphs intentions pretty clearly. Stack the box and the worst Dray can do to you is catch a ball and lumber a few feet before someone catches up to him. O'Leary, as a complement to Clay, can catch too.
