This would be fantastic. I think we are a season away from this

98 points was necessary to make the playoffs two seasons ago, 93 this past year. 5 teams last season topped 100 points, 6 the year before (Eastern Conference only). 99 points puts them 6th or 7th in the conference. This team needs to, and should, make the playoffs this year.

38-31-13

89 points

They'll just miss out on a playoff berth.

Question: were some point totals inflated because of the sabres tank? Like other teams got so many more points simply because they played the sabres. You get what I mean

Possibly, but they weren't exactly tanking last season. Over the last five seasons (not including the shortie) at least five teams attained 100 pts four times, and the other season was four.

No last year they sure weren't.

I sure hope you are right. I'll gladly eat crow but I think they need one more year. They finish with about 90 points.

I pushed the upper limit of expectation for sure but if they fail to make the playoffs this season they need to take a harder look at the roster than they expect to.

We don't have a goaltender.

Now that Eichel is hurt for maybe Quarter of the season, 60-21-1

It's Bylsma, I see the majority of predictions are just above .500 and an 8 seed.

So we'll go with 31-41-10 and an 11 seed.

Maybe the Sabres will get lucky without Eichel and go around 4-12-4 in the first 20 games and fire Bylsma, will still be enough time to salvage the season.

Bylsma = perennial underachiever.

We don't have a goaltender.

So the question becomes, how long will GMTM ride Lehner before admitting this to himself and acting to upgrade the position.
