TBN : Marrone's love of punting.

Kind of funny looking back on it, though not at the time. Article made me laugh.

Can we turn this into the "Best of Marrone" thread?

One of the worst coaches of my following of the team.

And yet the only one, other than Mularkey in 2004, to post a record above .500 this century. Like him or not, if he stayed with Schwartz in the fold this team probably makes the playoffs last year.

          Meh. Doubt it.

He was above .500 because the Pats rested their starters and we beat them in a meaningless game. The only good thing about Marrone was bringing Schwartz in and letting him handle the defense.

OK. He was the only coach this century to be at least 8-7 after 15 games and put the team in a position to post a winning record other than Mularkey in 2004.
              Wrecks was 7-8 last season.
              Williams was 7-8 in 2002.
              Phillips was 7-8 in 2000.

              Better?

And he's doing a great job with the Jags now, too.

I'm certainly not saying he's a great coach, or even a good one...but it is what it is.

Not too sure how he'd have done after Orton retired. Marrone was lost as a head coach. We'd have had a great defense with a lost offense and offensive lost game management. Saving graces were Pettine then Schwartz.

I still remember Boy Hackett being the QB coach/OC because who needs a QB coach when you bring that much experience as he had to the table, then when that didn't work they hired the guy from Detroit who made Stafford regress. Fortunately I doubt Orton paid any attention to him.

They went from coming in exciting everyone advertising K-Gun (that ran slower than molasses), to game management, to passing offense, publicly saying they wanted Manuel to run more, then run less, throw more running less, then throw less running more, when he didn't even have a QB coach to guide him. On game days Hackett tried the booth, then the sideline, then the booth.

Offensive line guru Marrone was hands on for a bad offensive line.

All I'll give him is that he was wise to hire Pettine, then Schwartz or we'd be looking back at 2 woeful seasons.

                      i hate jauron worse personally

I hate marrone because he was such an unlikeable douche bag. Jauron reminded me of a big dumb emotionless oaf. Actually, they both reminded me.of that but Jauron wasn't a douche.

I hated Jauron worse also. Marrone would try to at least change things without competence, Jauron would just rigidly keep doing the same things without competence. Ignorant stupid vs. stubborn stupid, stubborn stupid will aggravate me worse every time.

The Jauron dead face expression where he leans forward and just stares, and then blinks a little, and then shakes his head... like he thought this time it was going to be different and just can't believe it... and then walks away and claps, knowing it will work next time.

****, my blood pressure goes up just remembering.
