    Tyrod/Lynn Identity Crisis

The Bills offense and Tyrod Taylor need to accept one simple fact, if they do it or had done it they could have won yesterday and can win many more games against top teams.

Tyrod Taylor is a QB designed to run a college offense. The problem is that TT wants to be an NFL QB and prove he can win from the pocket, he can't. There were multiple times in the game yesterday where he could have easily run for first downs just by scrambling, instead choosing to try and throw for it.

The Raiders were sitting ducks after Tyrod scored on the read-option in the first half, had they continued running read option and option pitch, considering how McCoy was also racking up yards, they would have run for maybe 300 yards.

I think the Bills would win a lot more often if Tyrod would just accept what he is and use his legs as his primary weapon and only throw the ball when the other team is so focused on stopping their two-headed/misdirecting rush attack that they leave guys open. With McCoy in the backfield I don't see how the Raiders would have stopped them. Mack would have been completely neutralized and we wouldn't have opened ourselves up to his destruction.

I was very annoyed with Roman for constantly calling read-option but now I realize that my problem with those calls was that TT was rarely actually running with it and it was basically used just as a decoy to set up other runs or a pass. He was on to something though. It should be used a lot and often, only Tyrod needs to be doing way more running.

It's time for Lynn and TT to just accept what this offense is and can be and run with it.

What are you talking about? When his first read isn't open in 2 secs he tucks it and run. If he is trying to prove he can win from the pocket than he'd stay there.

He lucked out on that TD . Tyrod can't see the field most of the time which is why he isn't the best read option qb. The raiders took the lead even when the bills where running well. You need to throw it eventually when you are behind.

So what should they do, play wildcat /read option all day long?

Did you know that his yards per throw is slightly higher than his yards per run?

Exactly, his yards per throw are almost exactly his yards per run which is why he should be looking to run on most plays. Even when he drops back to pass his first thought should be can I run. You do that on a consistent basis not only will he be getting 80-90 yards rushing per game but that is going to freeze the defense and then you can make some easy throws and take some deep shots to Watkins.

I would much rather see him play that way then this offense that will consistently fail because Tyrod doesn't have the accuracy or awareness to be a passer.

He won't be getting 80-90 yards per game because he'll be dead. You might as well put Gillislee at qb

So you want to tell the defense that we don't have a qb and that we'll be running read option or wildcat all day? Might as well give them the playbook.

Your plan isn't going to work . Proof is that the tp teams in the league are a throw first team.

.The bills ARE already the no.1 rushing team and you want them to run some more? This is a passing league and we just got our ass handed to us by a passing first team.

We had a 15 point lead and all we needed was to continue getting first downs. Some well designed runs for Tyrod and some option would have been enough to seal that win.

It doesn't have to be read-option offense at all times but designed runs off of pass formations mixed in with what they are already doing and just more desire to scramble would go a long way.

In other words Tyrod is RGIII in his rookie season.

You're right we needed a few first downs etc. Yet the problem is Tyrod isn't good with quick hitters to WRs or TEs that help sustain drives because either he can't see it doesn't trust to "throw open". He usually looks for his first read and if he's not open he'll pat the ball trying to find someone or vacate the pocket. If he was a traditional QB he should be able just to sit in the pocket and go through his read progressions and find an open man yet he can't.

Precisely, but we all know he will not make those throws, nor will he see them.

Wakins is so open on some plays and Tyrod has no clue. Watkins had Amerson beat cleanly down the right sideline in the first half for an easy 50 yard TD, not seen.

My suggestion is that instead of all these missed passing plays we could be gaining 6-7 yards on TT and McCoy runs. And where the heck is the screen game?

Mahdi, if you can figure out Tyrod as a passer, don't you think DC's can? It's been said before that make you stack the box and make Tyrod play qb if you want to beat them. You're not fooling anyone with pass formations.

Besides, no matter how good we were at running the ball, the raiders were scoring vs our D . Nothing Tyrod could have done by running the ball himself.

With defenses being designed these days to stop the pass there is room for a pure running offense to succeed. The Raiders had no chance at stopping our run game or TT had he used his legs as he should have.

Everyone would prefer Carr over Taylor but you work with what you have. Carr won because he realized he needed to do what he does best, throw downfield.

What TT does best is run. So he should be doing that most of the time. And working some passes in. But TT is on a mission to prove he can throw which is why he hates questions about his running ability.

Go back and look at his PCs, anytime he is asked about his scrambling ability he scoffs at the question.

Several times Tyrod made the right read and just missed the window. Forcing Watkins to extend and giving the db an angle to knock it away. His primary mentality out there is not to turn the ball over and for most of the season he's been successful at that. But when we suddenly need him to engineer a 8-12 play short passing drive then it's not going to happen. That's not what he is trained to do or capable of accomplishing.

And that's why he has no business being a starting QB in this league.

Taylor doesn't call his own plays, I'm not even aware he ever audibles. You don't see him directing anything at the line. If he's on a mission it's to do what the OC tells him to do and keep from turning over the ball while finding a running lane.

There is no room for a pure running offense to succeed. We have the very best one and you see clearly why it doesn't work. Who else has one ? No one. There's a reason for it.

You can make an argument it might at least work better if we had a better defense, but we don't. There's a reason teams in the NFL don't run a wishbone.

It doesn't work at pro level.
