that they are not planning to sign any of them?

The team currently has no Safeties, about to have one WR, and potentially no QB.

this list is a bunch of backups and fodder....beyond Gilmore they all can take a hike....

The majority of those guys were FAs signed to cover for injuries, who then got injured themselves. The only ones who are likely to command any real money are Woods and Gilmore, maybe Zach Brown and Alexander if people really think they've turned a corner in their career. I would say we could sign as many of them as we wanted.

Is Rex is still here next year, or if they stay 3 - 4 defense, I would strongly consider getting a true NT. Darius is better suited at end.

Of course, if they go 4-3, then you have Lawson, Dareus, Wliiams/Washington, Hughes which might be a better fit, though I'm not sure if Kyle is coming back next year.

I'd say try to keep Alxander.

I'd try to bring back Woods but he's useless if we bring back Tyrod anyways.

I don't agree....

A lot of those guys played major non-starting roles...

Robert Woods, Zach Brown, Douzable, Spikes, Goodwin, Groy, Alexander, Mills, Hunter, Tate, Bryant

That's 11 guys who we either have to re-sign or find equal or better replacements. It will be an interesting FA period for Buffalo to see how they fill the roster.

If the Bills are even thinking about making a change at GM and HC... now is as good of a time as ever. Your going to have a big turn over anyways. Get a new GM, let him hire on a new HC then they can build the kind of team they want.

Possibly Tate for returnman duties.

I'd bring back Gilmore, but only at top 10-15 money, nothing more.
Bryant, Mills, Hunter, Z.Brown, Alexander, Douzable.
I'd like to keep Woods and get him a QB. Spikes, but only if we change coaches, go back to a 4-3, and as a back-up.
Also, bring Gragg back for one more chance, he was doing well before the cheap shot...errrr...injury.

I would like to bring Brown and Akexander back. But, they are probably going into training camps as back-ups. They would both be smart to try and get starter money somewhere else. I don't think Gilmore wants to be here.

Of the guys making over $1M I'd bring back Woods and Hunter. Gilmore can stay at the 10 - 15 CB pay range so he wants more then bye-bye. Alexander is the only sub million guy that is a must sign.

Whaley just might be that GM. First, he got an extension earlier this year so he looks to be safe. And by all accounts, Rex is Pegulas' pick. This might be a chance that Pegula let Whaley pick his coach before he cleans house (if that does not work out).

Cap space looks like...
$5M - 2016 rollover
$32.9M - 2017 cap room before signings (projected $168M cap vs $155.3 in 2016)
$15.9M - release TT (additional cap savings through 2021)
$53.8M - 2017 cap available.

Re-sign..
$10.7M Gilmore
$8.2M Woods
$5M EJ (better that $27M for Taylor while we look for franchise guy)
$2 Blanton
$2 White
$2 Hunter
$2 Alexander

$21.9M remaining to sign rookies and other FA's
Needs...
Franchise QB - draft (Cousins will not be available and Romo will be too expensive for age)
Safeties - FA, draft
OL - FA, draft
WR - FA, draft
CB - FA, draft

Nah, he's worth 15-20 number 1 corner money.

He's an average middle of the pack number 1 corner and should be paid as such with a little extra, because, well that's how FA works...

So figure 10-12 per year.

Whaley's a scout, not a GM. His track record of drafting injury prone players and keeping injury prone player proves that. He does hit on out of the box players, a scout.
He sucks at building a team. Unless he was neutered in the coach department, he shouldn't be here. Rex and his brother have the IQ of a telephone pole.

So everyones afraid to fire the coach and GM because of continuity. But the GM built the team in year 3 with half the roster needing to be replaced. Complete fail in logic there.

Not me, I'd boot him. He's a pro personnel guy, finds decent vet minimum guys, drafts brittle players who contribute little, then won't cut them. Then again maybe he's a good assistant pro personnel guy and Rob Hanrahan, director of pro personnel is the good pro personnel guy who finds decent vet minimum guys.

I'm not sure Whaley actually adds anything whatever to the equation besides being a focal point.
