DENVER (AP) -- The Denver Broncos defense will have a little less jelly in the middle this season.
Defensive tackle Lional Dalton, nicknamed ``Jelly'' for his eating habits and massive size, is slimmer, trimmer and feeling good.
``I'm still Jelly Roll,'' Dalton said Monday. ``But I feel like a new person.''
Dalton used his stocky frame -- 6-foot-1, 335 pounds -- to clog holes and build leverage to power past opponents in his first four seasons with Baltimore. But that size started to weigh him down after signing with the Broncos last season.
Down to 308 pounds, Dalton is feeling better than he has in years.
Dalton was superb the first part of the year, combining in the middle with Chester McGlockton to stuff running backs such as Marshall Faulk, Garrison Hearst and LaDainian Tomlinson.
