Next NFL draft QB steal in mold of Russell Wilson, Derek Carr could be Nathan Peterman (http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/news/nathan-peterman-nfl-draft-stock-pittsburgh-quarterback-scouting-report/fcjg3qg1ai9k1ibjbse3qx0ua)

Where his stat rank with other QBs: http://www.espn.com/college-football/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/collegeQuarterbackRating

Pictured above is Nathan Peterman, a 6’2 and 225 pound quarterback out of the University of Pittsburgh. Clearly, he’s not the biggest quarterback in the 2017 NFL Draft, and he won’t be what every scout is looking for when they look for a franchise quarterback. However, he has the skill set to eventually become a starting quarterback on Sunday’s.

Not every great quarterback lit up the stat sheets in college, nor were they Heisman trophy candidates. Nathan Peterman would be considered your average joe. In fact, he has a lot of work to do this offseason to prove he should even get drafted. Do I believe he will get drafted? Absolutely. What round will we see a player like him drafted? Last year, Jacoby Brissett got drafted in the third-round, so anything is possible. Normally, someone like Peterman is a fifth or sixth-round draft pick.

When you look at Nathan Peterman’s tape, it won’t make your jaw drop. Did Kirk Cousins make your jaw drop when he came out of Michigan State? Unless you are a Spartans fan, probably not.

When I watch Nathan Peterman, he reminds me of Kirk Cousins. Neither quarterback has a big frame but they stand in the pocket and deliver multiple throws, even with serious amounts of pressure. Peterman’s pocket mobility is what really stands out to me. He averages about six rushing attempts per game with an average of 3.5 yards per carry. But, he can extend plays with his feet and trusts his arm to deliver a great pass down field.

Does Peterman always make the perfect pass? With a 60.3 completion percentage, I’d think not. For statistical purposes though, he’s averaging almost five touchdowns for every one interception (19TDs to four INTs). That’s not bad considering he’s only thrown for 2,114 yards on the 2016 season.

Mahoney in the 2nd rd. This guy in the 3rd and Kelly in the 4th.

We should be set

That video of him vs NC was not exactly awe-inspiring. Some good. Some not so good.

A lot of one read short darts to a spot on the field (ala EJ Manuel). When he goes to a 2nd or 3rd read his passes are off target.

He might be good but I wouldn't go out of my way to get him.

Agreed. I only posted b/c I hadn't heard his name in any QB discussion to date.

We don't have a fourth rounder, unless you are planning on packaging a couple to move up...or down in an earlier round.

Forget waiting until the 4th round. If you think he could be your guy, you take him a round earlier.

I believe DraftBoy has him targeted in his most recent mock in the simulator thread.

I agree, if you like the guy you take him and avoid the typical OBD response, "we had him targeted, but......."
I don't think Peterman will last to the 3rd round, there's probably half a dozen teams that will be looking hard at QB this draft. If the Bills do go with a more passing aggressive WCO, Peterman would be a good fit IMO.

He screams average. Had the game of his life vs. Clemson but I didn't see it during Senior Bowl week and in other game film.

From the highlights I've seen he seems to get the balls to recovers in time but he doesn't have great arm strength. I would consider him in the 3rd Round.

I need a QB with better ball placement.

Josh Rosen is the best I've seen as far as that goes in the NCAA over the last 2 seasons. Of course I also thought Jared Goff excelled at that and his first season was a struggle. Excited to hopefully see him work from a clean pocket someday.

I wouldn't be too upset depending on what round. He seems to be a solid leader, smart, efficient. For what it's worth, in the game against Penn State, I can only recall maybe one or two drop-back passes. Everything else were one-read plays that were well-designed (e.g. screen passes, shovel passes, and the "box-out" plays like the one Clemson used to score their TD in the NC game). Really not sure how good he is at reading the field, going through progressions, etc.

Yeah Night Train says he "screams average" then when they draft him he's "the only QB I had any interest in (http://www.billszone.com/fanzone/showthread.php/237555-nate-peterman/page2)."

LOL @ homers.

I've seen the comparison made between Peterman and Kirk Cousins. People were drooling over RGIII the year Cousins came out, but Cousins is the one who has been successful. Cousins was drafted in the third round. Buffalo got Peterman in the 5th. Sounds like decent drafting to me.

Well you certainly can't complain too much about most players taken in the 5th. I remember people comparing Cousins to Tom Brady. Peterman is not that. But we'll see.

Have to love this....
Clemson was 9-0 going into the game and ranked No. 2 in the country. Peterman outplayed Tigers' quarterback Deshaun Watson throwing for 308 yards and five touchdowns. Peterman had no turnovers and wasn't sacked in the 43-42 upset victory

E.J. Manuel is also the QB who came to my mind when I watched that video of Peterman against North Carolina. Almost everything I saw in that highlight video was a run, a dump-off, a throw to a stationary target, or a throw to someone wide open. Throws that your average guy walking down the street could probably make. But there were a few times when he put the ball into a relatively tight window, and that's good as far as it goes. Overall, that highlight video makes him look like just another guy, at best. Some of the other footage I've seen of him has been more inspiring than this was.

The dude throws a great ball, hopefully he turns out to be our Brady type of QB.

Based on the clips I saw of him, he reminded me of Sam Bradford a little.

He had Boyd in 2015 who was really good, but his options in 2016 were pretty meh.
