Pick up Tyrod's option and trade him.

The FA QB market is thin. This is also a poor draft for QBs. If we don't pick up Taylor's option, he probably would be considered the top QB in FA. There are plenty of QB needy teams. If we pick up Taylor's option I don't think interest in him diminishes and we can capitalize on the depressed QB market by trading him.

A team like the browns may be inclined to trade one of their multiple first round picks if they think Tyrod is a franchise QB. Hugh Jackson likes him and the David Lee connection is there as well.

I wonder what the cap ramifications would be. Barring any crazy cap penalty, this may be the best course of action.

The ultimate tank move would be to trade him for a 2018 pick

Here's an article that I found on another reputable Buffalo site regarding Tyrod's cap numbers:

With full details regarding yearly payouts and bonuses, we can now take a look at the annual cash and cap breakdowns of Tyrod Taylor's long-term contract extension.

I'm in no way a Capologist, but his cap number is $18M+ if cut. If this is the case then why cut him? If OBD is dead set on getting rid of him, they could even deal him for a second day pick to a team that is starving for a QB that didn't get their guy on Day 1 of the draft and have no confidence in getting a QB later in the draft.

The only risk is if he's "Meh" again in 2017, then his 2018 cap numbers if cut are going to be astronomical at nearly 27.5M if I'm reading this right.

He is not tradeable as a starter.

WTF is the trade value of a back up -- 3 deflated footballs?

Yep so if we are looking to trade him do it before we have to pick up the option and let Tyrod's new team do so. I said before to me I'd trade Tyrod for a 4th Rounder this year and conditional pick next year. Assuming another team would take him and his contract as is but not sure that will happen.

Hey great idea! We could use that 4th rounder to get ourselves another Ko Simpson! Great value!
