This year, Eagles quarterback Chase Daniel wanted to be released in the aftermath of the decision to sign Nick Foles. Daniel got his wish.

The team has announced that Daniel has indeed been released.

The Eagles paid him a $3 million signing bonus, a $3 million roster bonus, and a $1 million base salary in 2016. A whopping $5 million of his 2017 salary was fully guaranteed. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Daniel did not waive the guaranteed money. However, the guarantee contains offset language.

The 30-year-old former Saint and Chief is now available to be signed by anyone who wants him. He believes he’s capable of starting; it will be interesting to see if the teams that currently don’t have starters give him a look.

No thanks. If Tyrod goes down for some reason the only other qb I want to see is Cardale Jones.

Buffalo hast Tyrod, Cardale, and a piece of camp fodder at QB. They will need either another youngster or a veteran to fill out the QB position going into camp. They won't be in a position to pay a great deal to a veteran, however.

I feel sorta bad for him. I feel like he went to KC initially to be their starter, but then Smith became solid. Then he went to the eagles to be a starter, they draft Wentz. Now he's a free agent yet again. I really think he has been trying to start for a while

I want Cardale Jones on the bench for at least 2 more seasons before we give him any kind of shot. Nobody who gets benched in college is going to light it up at a pro level in year 2.

If you want him to have a serious chance, let him ride the pine his first three seasons like Aaron Rodgers.

Bump him down to third string and bring in THE CHASE.

Since we aren't tanking, I'd be interested in him for sure.

Who in their right mind would ever want Cardale Jones over Chase Daniel? That is nuts.

Not sure how Chase would fit into our offense. We have a lot riding in Tyrod staying healthy.

I second your motion to question their sanity.

Chase Daniel has legit promise.

I'd much rather have a vet as backup who learned the ropes from one HOF QB, Drew Brees, for four years, and then an above average QB, Alex Smith, for another 3 years.

Perfect guy to take a stab at.

Tyrod stayed healthy last year, but his style of play does lend itself to injuries the way he scrambles. Daniel would be a fantastic plan B. Jones is too raw.

I don't rate Cardale.

IMO he isn't going to make it as a QB. He should start thinking about a position change similar to Terrell Pryor and Logan Thomas.
